Nurse Practitioner (Elkie)
Elkie Miao is an experienced Nurse Practitioner with over 18 years of
clinical practice in Australia across aged care, community health, and
primary care settings, along with three years of acute, diabetes, and
intensive care experience in China. She has been practising as a Nurse
Practitioner since completing her Master of Nurse Practitioner at Edith
Cowan University in 2025.
Within the residential aged care setting, Elkie delivers comprehensive,
patient-centred care through regular nursing home visits and telehealth
consultations. Her scope of practice includes comprehensive health
assessments, subacute care, chronic disease management, medication review
and monitoring, advanced wound care, and palliative and end-of-life care.
She is skilled in the early identification and management of clinical
deterioration, working collaboratively with general practitioners, allied
health professionals, and medical specialists to coordinate care and
facilitate timely referrals that support residents to age in place.
Elkie is passionate about improving access to timely, high-quality
healthcare for older adults in residential and community settings. She is
committed to reducing avoidable hospital admissions and enhancing continuity
of care. Known for her culturally sensitive and compassionate approach,
Elkie prioritises holistic, person-centred care that respects the diverse
